Has anyone any information on Rosanna Loose …married Elijah Southerland also born in Brancaster. She also on her husband Elijahs death, married Charles Barns. They then changed the surname to Barns Southerland.
I do hope that someone can help with finding these people.

Now this is a very interesting article primarily about Charles Frederick Barnes. If you scroll down to the bottom, Rose is mentioned and also her second marriage to Charles 8 Mar 1920 in Bermonsey. She was a very wealthy widow by this time, not bad for a fisherman's daughter!

Lots in the newspapers about Elijah Sutherland. He died 11 Aug 1914. He moved to Brancaster as a young man, started a brewery and ended up supplying most of the pubs. He owned half of Brancaster and other properties at the time of his death. His first marriage produced no issue but he had a son with Rose, his second wife.
He was a man of money and influence but ended up in front of magistrates quite a few times. Even after his death, there is a big 3 column case in the papers where Rose is being sued and has to be removed from court by Charles Barnes at the end before she attacks the accuser!

Thetford & Watton Times 29 January 1916

This is about a cottage rented out by Elijah but which never had any repairs done. There is much more to the story but Charles Barnes is mentioned as "appearing on the scene" in March 1915. Originally a round-abouts proprietor who seemed "to have got into touch with Mr Sutherland's estate. Mr Sutherland had died in the meanwhile and he seemed to have the greatest influence on those who now enjoyed the estate."

Elijah died Aug 1914.
