This is really a long shot but ive tried what i know
Jozseph BEZUSZKO/BEZUSHKO was a Ukraine prisoner in Rimini Italy
Came to LONGTOWN near CARLISLE in 1945 then years later moved to Carlisle
i wondered if he would have been on any electoral roles then
Was mentioned he lived at that time on a farm
Thank you for looking

He wouldn’t have been on the ER whilst considered to be a prisoner of war. Later he would have need a permanent address.

Have you tried looking at the Electoral Rolls for him.

If I remember correctly, Ukrainian POW’s were sent back to Russia, where, let’s say, they weren’t welcomed home in a friendly manner.

Added: not Ukrainians it was the Cossacks.

There seems to be plenty on the Ukranian pow’s from Italy online.
Further: According to FreeBMD Joseph married in the Carlisle district in 1956.

ER’s for that era are searched by address……..at the main public library for the area

Obviously, they only include people registered to vote

Lots of info online about all descendants

One of the two trees with Joseph on Ancestry has a lot of information. It is also the only one that suggests there is a daughter as well as the two sons that can be found on freebmd. Maybe she was illegitimate.

Added there were pow camps in both Longtown as mentioned in OP and also Lockerbie as mentioned in Pauline’s new thread on Genealogy Chat.

This a specialist area of research and Pauline really needs to get ‘googling’.
