There is NO second forename on Edna’s marriage record which is shown on familysearch………………

You refer to a brother - where did you learn about him?

Have you actually found a birth registration with MMN to match that for a birth registration for Edna?

You haven’t said where you have got all the snippets of info you’ve added at intervals………please give some verification for your statements

How is an American certificate relevant to the UK/ South Africa?

By googling it seems that a SA death certificate is similar to an English one

It seems as though we're fighting a losing battle the last thing I can try is for some one to get a 1921 census with Edna and her brother who was born 1911?

Thank you for looking and getting the above info

The 1930 travel record you found is NOT for the right person.
That one was born 1910, and her name was Elsie, not Edna:

Miss E Wood

Re Edna May Woods -

Why do you think she might be the right person? There's no middle name on her marriage cert.

"I've got Death Certificates/Records ?? from America and it has the parents names on ?"
WHOSE death certificates??

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 4 Dec 2023 18:11

You say that Edna was born 17/04/1908 in Manchester.

There are two possible births:

WOOD, EDNA mmn BONE
GRO Reference: 1908 J Quarter in BURY Volume 08C Page 581

WOOD, EDNA mmn JACKSON
GRO Reference: 1908 J Quarter in BARTON UPON IRWELL Volume 08C Page 640

The one registered in Bury is NOT your Edna.

Marriage of the Wood/Bone couple:

Marriages Dec 1900 (>99%)
Bone Ada Frances Bury 8c 821
Wood Albert Bury 8c 821

Is there some confusion over the term 'death certificate'.?
As far as I am aware you always have to pay for the legal bmd's. It is birth, marriage & death parish registers that are often available for free on some sites. A parish register is unlikely to give any information on grandparents

I have my DNA on my Heritage and two links to came up 2nd cousin to 2 brothers As I've got a bit of my tree missing I thought I'd give it a go but one brother has quite a few people on his tree but not on Edna Wood, I've checked what they have the death that have been put up on hear I found that Passage you have I wondered about that one as Edna married Thomas Abbott from Scotland but they married in South Africa, Edna was born in Manchester as her brother Albert was

I've had a quick look at the site but I'll check it again later
As I said before I think I'll have to leave it as it would seem as the family don't know much about their ancestors I've sent a message to the 2nd brother he has only 3 people on his tree but he lives in South Africa so I'll wait and see if he can give me any more

Thank you for your help

Look at the SA site to which I gave you the link........

Who are 'they'?

I thought you'd found records yourself.................seems I was mistaken.

Where does this come from?

I think Edna travelled to South Africa 1930c I found one aged 23 travelling with possibly her mother ? age looked about 60 They lived in Aberdeen ?

Sylann

Sylann Report 4 Dec 2023 16:54

No idea all they had was Edna was born 17/4/1908 she had a brother Albert who was born about 1911, she went to South Africa about 1930 Married and died there so as you can see it's hopeless Thats why I was hoping the death certificates had more on them

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 4 Dec 2023 16:17

Thank you for your help The death of Edna and Thomas seem to be the right ones I was hoping it had parents!!
As I'm going off another tree who is a DNA match but doesn't have much it's not worth buying a certificate

A tree on Ancestry by the grandaughter of Abbott/Wood has the husband of Edna Wood as Hailey Abbott.

Also on Ancestry a Perth Newspaper Index card , giving an address of 59 Scott Street. Obit 9.3.1972

Presumably he's still living.

Click on his name on that page, and it will give you an office address .

There are a few south Africa records on Ancestry - but not many.

Lots of girls named Edna Wood were born 1907-9. Impossible to pick out the right one without more info.
