ANN WILKINSON father was George Wilkinson, Licensed Victualler, in the Newcastle area of Northumberland. Ann/Annie married Joseph Cooney ( born, we think, in Kildare, Ireland) Annie was born about 1860 and remarried in 1911 to William Walton. Annie was a widow at the time. They married at St. Mary's R.C. Church on West Clayton Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. Her daughter Jane Ann Cooney was married there to John/Jack Sedgwick and one of their daughters, Mary, ( my mum) was christened there. Other daughters of Annie and Joseph were Peggy (Margaret), Veronica May/Mary and possibly others. All would have been christened at St. Mary's R.C. Church on West Clayton Street. Veronica May/Mary was a music hall artiste and one of the original Tiller Girls. She was also part of a duo called the 'Russell Sisters/Sisters Russell'. If there is anyone who can do a lookup in the parish records of St. Mary's R.C. for me I would be much obliged. Annie and Joseph had children between 1880 and 1901. Many thanks |
