	Check out the date of the posting. Unlikely to be re-visited I'm afraid. In answer to your question, accents and general illiteracy were responsible for a lot of the spellings and mistranscriptions

Member Since: December 2004 Posts: 13 Send Message	I have several Birdmans - but Lincolnshire/Yorkshire. What links have you between Boardman/Birdman name? Is it just a case of census takers mis-hearing regional accents?
