Anna lol, you've got the naughty girl then eh, at least makes it a bit more interesting !!! now with Marys mother Elizabeth: found her in 1871 Elizabeth Freeman abt 1804 Woodwalton, Huntingdonshire, England Wife Sawtry All Saints Huntingdonshire Thomas Freeman abt 1816 Sawtry, Huntingdonshire, England Head Sawtry All Saints Huntingdonshire WITH HUSBAND !!!!! She must have remarried at some point, when i don't know , lol Jane

Blimey! I think that Mary had been a naughty girl on several counts- she was widowed by 1861, yet her son was born in 1862. I think her husband died in 1854! (That's the only Charles Welch death I can find.) In both the 1861 and the 1881 (when she is with son James Buck) census Mary's mother goes by the name Elizabeth Freeman. It seems a bit odd as her married name was Buck. If she was remarried and became a Freeman, then where is the husband? Was it common for women to use their maiden name if they were widowed? Anna
