Hello Annette. Can I ask you to have a look for Esther BLUNT on the 1871 census. Living at 8 Shadwell Green. Shadwell. I want to know who is living in the same household as her. She was born in Middlesex in about 1813. Her maiden name was Smith. Many thanks for your help. SUE.

Annette, Thank you very much for your trouble. The family you found on th 1841 census is definitely the right one. Lynne

Hi Annette Thanks for all your help. What you found on the 1861 census seems to fit, not quite so sure about 1871. I know William married an Emma but not sure about the area or the daughter. I have the family on the 1881 census without daughter Anne and i can't find a death record for her between 1871 and 1881 in case it is the right family :s Regards, Steph:)

Annette Report 27 May 2006 17:57

Steph, There are quite a few William Crossleys in the Yorkshire all born around the same time but only one of them born in Carlton, Yorks on the 1861: Charles Crossley abt 1853 Carlton, Yorkshire, Son Emily Crossley abt 1852 Carlton, Yorkshire, Daughter George Crossley abt 1858 Carlton, Yorkshire, Son Harriet Crossley abt 1825 Lofthouse, Yorkshire, Wife Jabez Crossley abt 1856 Carlton, Yorkshire, Son Joseph Crossley abt 1830 Carlton, Yorkshire, Head Coal Miner William Crossley abt 1851 Carlton, Yorkshire, Son Westfield Place, Rothwell Yorkshire None of the William's on 1871 are listed as being born in Carlton. I checked the ones still living at home with parents and none matched with the 1861 census above. I found this one but you would need to check who your William married: Anne E Crossley abt 1870 Chapel Allerton, Yorkshire, Daughter Emma Crossley abt 1851 South Emsall, Yorkshire, Wife William Crossley abt 1850 East Hardwick, Yorkshire, Head Chapel Allerton Yorkshire (East Hardwick is near Pontefract, approx. 10 miles South East of Carlton and Chapel Allerton is approx. 5 miles north of Carlton, Leeds) Hope this has helped, Annette

Lynne, I searched birth range 1775-1790 (all counties) for James/Jon/John Lewsley but found nothing that matched. I think I have found his son, John on the 1841: John Lewsley abt 1804 Middlesex, Occ: Carver & Gilder Jas Lewsley abt 1827 Middlesex, John Lewsley abt 1829 Middlesex, Goldington Street, St Pancras Middlesex

Hi Annette Thanks for your offer. Can you look up William Crossley on the 1861and 1871 censuses please? He was born c1851 in Carlton, Leeds, West Yorkshire and its likely he would have still been in this area in 1861 and 1871 Thanks very much Steph :)

Jane, No trace of Daniel (with father Samuel) on the 1901, there are quite alot of Samuel Whitehouses in the Staffordshire/Warwickshire area on the 1901 - do you know the name of Daniel's mother? I presume this is Lucy/Ernest: Birth Index Lucy Frear 1900 Sep quarter Aston Warwickshire Death Index: Ernest Frear abt (1873) 1908 Jun quarter Aston Warwickshire I found Ernest (c.1873) on the 1881 but no trace after this.

Hi Annette, Thank you for your offer. It is very generous. Can you please do a look up for me on the 1841 census. James/Jon Lewsley b abt 1785. Could be living with (son) John Lewsley b. 1804 near Aldenham Street, Pancras, London. Could also be listed as Somers Town (old name for that region). Regards, Lynne (in Aust.)

Annette, Another mystery - James Court is proving to be very elusive! I think this family in 1861 shows his father James and brother Edward. Thanks for your time and effort - much appreciated. Regards, Kay

Annette Report 24 May 2006 17:09

KAY Can't find James or Philip on the 1841/1851. It is possible that the name was mis-transcribed, I did a few more 'sound like' searches but nothing came up that matched. I have found this family on the 1861 (which you may already have): Edward Court abt 1840 Manchester, Lancashire, Nephew Gorge Court abt 1822 Manchester, Lancashire, Head Occ: Blacksmith Hannah Court abt 1847 Manchester, Lancashire, Daughter James Court abt 1805 Hulme, Lancashire, Brother (Widowed) Occ: Porter William Court abt 1845 Manchester, Lancashire, Son Elizabeth Miles abt 1848 Manchester, Lancashire, Stepdaughter 22 Broughton Street, Salford Lancashire
