Hi Maureen Further to your answer to my request for information on the burial of John Reed in Deptford Sunderland I have ordered a copy of his death certificate which they will search for between 1841 and 1851. If and when I get a certificate I will come back to you to see if you can look up the burial for me. As you say 'Who Do You Think You Are' definitely does have a lot to answer for the record office is quoting three weeks! Once again many thanks for your kind offer of help. Susan

Hi Maureen Thanks for the guide to Consett Library I will try and contact them. In the mean time apart from the NRA which I have tried to search, do you know how I can get hold of a coroners report for the Chester Ward Coroners. Or can anyone else reading this help? Thanks again Martin

Hi Maureen, If you have time, could you check something out for me please. I have a burial from a 3rd party tree - could you check to see if it is correct, or there is anything further that hasn't been included. The burial took place on 12 Oct 1848, at Pittington St Lawrence - Mary Jane HEPBURN, of Lumley, Infant. Thank you - quite understand if you don't get time. Debbie

Hi Martin I know DRO have very little in the line of newspapers and a lot of the newspapers are kept in the local libraries...Muggleswick is up near Consett and Lanchester... You will possibly need to contact Consett Library to find out where the newspapers are kept for the area.. It will be the nearest family history library Mo If I need to look at papers like Northern Echo.. I have to go to Darlington Library as they are not kept at the records Office.

Hello Maureen, I'm trying to find info on my GGGrandad Emerson Jackson. He was born in Muggleswick 1843 and died in an accident at Medomsley Colliery 7th Nov 1882. I have his Death Certificate which mentions an inquest held by John Graham Coroner for Chester Ward 9th Nov 1882. Is it possible for you to find more info, perhaps a coroners report, orbit or anything you can find I would be most grateful for any help Martin

Hi Robyn there is very little in newspaper LINE...at DRO.. I would think that Darlington Library would be your best bet....especially for 1940..Northern Echo... was very popular.... Mo

Hi Claire I would suggest that the best route to take on this one would be to get his Birth cert... The 1837 indexes are free to search at the moment on Ancestry even if you are not a member.. Might be worth tracking his parents down that way..his Birth cert will also give you the Father's occupation Mo
