Hi John there are dozens of Robert Whitesides in Lancs, but none in Liverpool area, also would he be married? have found the best age wise is married to a Margaret but is an ag lab, as opposed to a carter. if he was still with parents, do you know their names or siblings names so i can narrow them down a bit for you? thanks Jane

Deb, i'll let you into a little secret................ tried saying Brodie with a Geordie accent, & voila, Broady !!!!! can't find a marriage for Agnes & Mr Brodie though, and no record of a death for Agnes Brodie or Broady. there is a record of births for both James & William though on FreeBMD, in South Shields. if it was me i'd send for Williams, just to confirm Agnes & get Mr Brodies name too, who i should then be able to get for you in 1851, have looked for Agnes already, but don't think she is a Brodie yet . .............................................................. 1891, 62 palmer terrace, wallsend, northumberland Brodie, James, 28 driller, b. jarrow, durham Brodie, mary, 20, Howden ........................................................................ OR 1891 17 Hardman st, linthorpe, Middlesboro Brodie, James, 27, ships yd, refitter?, durham Mary Ann 28 middlesboro Mark wm 6 ' James 4 '

Hi I thank you once again for your help! William Brodie was my Grandfathers grandfather, I have him & James in 1881 living with the Blacket family as their nephews, not sure of the family connection there. I have William married in 1891 & 1901 but nothing of James yet!! I noticed the change of spelling with the name from Broady to Brodie which may be why I got stuck!! Thanks again Deb

Mary, i'm afraid the census in 1901 was taken before John's birth in September, so he wont be on it. Do you know his parents names, that i could look up?

Hi Julie, right, at first thought yeah, no probs................... then lol, i realised i was looking in Wales for a Davies, named John, roflmao unfortunately there is not one with Pentr Voilas connection, either born or living there, but i stopped looking after 200 of them in Denbighshire. so am afraid i'll have to wait until i can have some more info from you, a nearer age, wifes name, definate birthplace, etc sorry.............................. but it could be worse, they could be JONES !!!

Hi again Jane Following on from you finding my Davies family in Chester.... My Matthew Davies was born about 1816 in Pentr Voilas, Denbighshire. I know his fathers name was John and he was a wheelwright probably born circa 1795. Could you please look on the 1851 census to see if you could possibly find him in Pentr Voilas Denbighshire....Eternally grateful Regards Julie
