Hi Tracy Can you find Arthur Webster and his wife Emily on the 1891 census, they were born 1858 and 1860-5 ,both in Bassingbourn, Cambs. I know they were married in 1889 . I think Emily had a daughter Mabel and the couple had a son George b 1890. Thanks

Rose Report 7 Nov 2005 23:49

Hi Tracy, I would appreciate any help in locating a birth and death record for one side of my family that is proving very difficult. The birth is for my great grandmother Nancy Kell who is aged 6 on the 1861 census and at the Childrens Establishment, Stepney Union together with sister Martha aged 12. Birthplace unknown for both but I have Martha's birth certificate and she would have been 12 in 1861 so hopeful this is her correct age which would mean born 1854/1855. Martha was born in Shadwell in 1849 as was an elder sister Susannah in 1845. In 1881 Nancy has become Annie Houghton (age 27) and birthplace is given as Whitechapel. No trace in 1871 or 1891, and although found no birthplace in 1901 (age 49) The death is for her mother also Martha. I have the family of mother Martha and daughters Susan and Martha in 1851 living at 7, Angel Gardens, Shadwell. I am thinking that mother Martha must have died before 1861 but have not been able to find a death record. A Martha Kell died in Marylebone in 1857 but there was another Martha Kell on the 1851 census living there so think this is likely to be her record. In 1851 although stated as married there is no husband and no father named on Martha's birth certificate and Susan has a father with a different name altogether. Any help much appreciated. Rose
