hi Lesley, In need of help i'm afraid. My husbands Grandfather George Arthur Bathgate was born in Godstone, Reigate in March 1891 . The 1891 census shows him with his mother only (Margaretha Bathgate, born Germany) aparently he had a sister name unknown, a few years younger than him so maybe on 1901 census. I no no details of Georges Father also called George Arthur Bathgate. except he was a sailor. Any help greatly received thanx.

Hi Lesley, She got married at St Anns Church, Tottenham, Middlesex. Her residence at time of marriage looks like 'Penrith Road'. I did a search and there is a road called that near a church next to St Anns Hospital. So i'm guessing that is the place. Regards Steve

Keeley Report 8 Aug 2005 14:56

Hi Lesley, now that I am getting on nicely with the Hayes family I have come to a bit of an sticky spot when it comes to my grandad's mother. I have spoken to my grandad ( Charles Hayes 1932) and he was really happy to find out about relatives he didnt know about. However we got on about his mother. He has told me this much, Her name was Elizabeth Allen 1902 born Featherstone I think. Her father was Enoch Allen my grandad was a bit sketchy about the dat he was born. He married a woman named Mary Baker and also he didnt know what date she was born. I believe both were born in the Pontefract area but my grandad is not sure. We would like to know their parents, Brother's, sister's of Enoch and Mary. If you want any more information about Brothers and Sisters of Elizabeth Allen just shout and I will let you know. Any help with this would be much appreciated Thank You Keeley

Lesley, Thanks for the offer... please could you do a search for a marriage record: John BATE born abt 1831 (Newton, Lancs) Martha CASE born abt 1837 (Sankey, Lancs) Both Newton and Sankey are near Warrington (now Cheshire) Their first child was born in Widnes abt 1865 so I would think they married in or around the Warrington/Widnes areas. I hope this is enough info to go on, Regards, Annette
