CAROLE VINT Hi Carole, I have searched for hours on end but cant find anything I only found one possible birth for a Catherine Denine but that was in New York. 1869. this I found on a census, showing mother as Bridget born Ireland and son unable to read name age 11 Bridget down as widow. I have also searched for you Thomas Grayson with no luck I think it is possible they married in US or Canada and then moved back to the UK. as I cant trace him before the 1901 census which you already have. I wish I could help further. if you find any more info please let me know and I will do my best Mary

Hi Mary - that's my John Charles Peace! His mothers maiden name was Nodder - would be grateful for any details you have for his birth. I have them back in Yorkshire in 1861 and John Charles eventually married Eliza Aston from Birmingham. Beats me how anyone can confuse peace with fish but there you go! Many thanks for what you've got so far. Sheelagh

Hi Mary, I'm after a John UREN b abt 1880 London, England, who was said to have emigrated to America with his mother (probably Catherine UREN nee WHITE? b. St Hilary, Penzance area,Cornwall abt 1854). I have them on the 1881 census visiting in West Ham, London, then nothing until John married in 1900. Catherine was supposed to have remarried (if she was married at all to his father!) but I don't know who to, or on what continent. I'm unsure if John returned alone. His middle name was Humphrey, but this wasn't always recorded. Sometimes UREN has been mistranscribed as URIN/URINE/YOUREN/WREN etc. Is there anything there? Many thanks, Sue.

Hi Mary, I know you are very busy with lookups but if you have a spare moment could you please see if there is any trace of a Robert MORGON. I'm sorry but I don't know very much about him - except that he was almost certainly born in England in the late 1890's. I do know that he was a Major in WW2 and was killed at Arnheim. I believe at the time he was with the Canadian special force. I'm not sure if you have access to Canadian records with your subscription so if you haven't - sorry just ignore this request. Any information on the MORGON name (not Morgan) in relation to Canada would be helpful. Many thanks Jenny

In 1871 he [a merchant] was living at 81 Stockwell Rd Lambeth with Hermann Osterlay-[a commercial clerk]abt 1850 born Germany and a George Zeller-bn about 1841in Stuttgart A search of Ancestry.Com for Hermann Dieudonne -using Soundex in the United States brings up the 1900 and 1930 Us Federal Census-the 1851-1891 New York Passenger list and the Port Images list as well as the Passenger and immigration lists index 1500-1900 These entries are padlocked to me Only one entry against each heading-i dont know this being soundex how good a match to Hermann Dieudonne it is. I really want as much information as possible regarding this person who i think may have been my gt Grandfather To be really greedy for information details of any Dieudonne's moving from Germany to the States would be appreciated, from the name there could be a French connection. Entering Hermann Osterlay also gets several entries As i think he was a best friend any information regarding him would be useful Thanks-Stanley

Dear Mary, Do you have access to census/immigration info which could trace the Gibbons family for the years they were in Canada? William Austin Gibbons born Manchester 1842, married Hannah in England and emigrated c 1870/71, supposedly to 'the New York side of Niagara Falls' where they had a restuarant, and where according to family history daughter Alice was born c. 1871. However 1881 census in England has Alice born in Canada. Son William born later in Canada where they moved to at some point before returning to England 1878. Hannah was catholic, but I don't know about William. Another kind person has checked the 1870 New York census, and cannot find the family there, so I wonder if you can shed any light. Many thanks, Miranda
