Hi Lyla Thanks for that. Sounds like she WAS telling porkies cos that's certainly her. Burroughs was her name at marriage to my Randfield chap and Robert Burroughs, her brother, witnessed that marriage too. Wonder if James did die or whether she just ran off and left him. She certainly got as far away from Marylebone as possible to marry this Marsh fella! Sly little.......! Lou

Hi Maz I checked the library book L37: S557 and this is all that was listed. Jennings Henry William son of Thomas of King Street Rotherhithe, blacksmith; app to George Browning 30/11/1826; turned over to William Browning 26/11/1829 Free 28/9/1837; V1845 (20/18, 22/48, 19/64) John Thomas son of Thomas of King Street Rotherhithe, blacksmith; app to Matthew Marshall 30/11/1826, Free 31/1/1839; V1845 (20/18, 22/55, 19/64) Michael – Add Rotherhithe 1786 (10/11) Someone had kindly written in the MS numbers for various records in the front of the book such as Admission to Freedoms (indexed) 1782-1828 MS 04603/4, Apprentice Books MS04604/1, Minute Books MS 04599 and several others, however these were not on microfilm and would therefore need to be ordered up. Hi Lyla Can you have a quick look at a marriage for me, assuming this is a church you have covered and the marriage hasn't vanished as mine so often do! It was at St Edmund the King & Marytr, Lombard Street (according to IGI) on 24 Sep 1792 between Saince Randfield and John Marsh I don't need to know all the details, just whether Saince was a widow please! My James Randfield married a Saince Burroughs in 1790 and given her 1st name is so unusual, I think James must have died pretty quickly and she remarried. IF, in the unlikely event she WAS a Spinster, I will have the witnesses please! Cheers Lou

Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 24 Aug 2005 17:57

Hi Lyla - wonder if you could have a look for something for me please. Apparently the records of the Shipwrights' Company are there - not sure how they can be searched, but I am looking for any reference to Jennings. Have several generations throughout the 19th and early 20th century who were shipwrights in the east end. Anything you can find would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Maz. XX ps sorry, just found the ref on their website as follows ..... Alphabetical list of members 1428-1858 in Printed Books Section: C H Ridge, Records of the Shipwrights' Company, vol 1 1428-ca.1780, vol 2 ca.1780-1858, at SL37/S557.

Sorry girls, I didn’t have a very successful day at all! Jessica I looked in the index (MS18567 13-15 reel 5) which covers 1851-73 but there were no Wenhams listed. Lou Couldn’t find the marriage at St Mary le Bow 1724-26 (which was actually merged with All Hallows Honey Lane). Could it be Marylebone perhaps? In the booklet it also mentions Boyds marriage index. The other marriage is correct but there were no further details. Suzanne Your Shotter baptism is correct but there were no other details. I searched 1810-1811 St Andrews but couldn’t see any Ann Apsey baptisms. The records were very hard to read so there’ is a small chance I missed her. Lyla

Hi Lyla Could you possibly look up a marriage for me at St Mary Le Bow John Randfield and Grace Sheldon 11 Apr 1725 I don't know how accurate this info is, its not on IGI, it's been passed to me in a gedcom file and I'm now trying to verify the info within it! And if possible, any additional info from this one from IGI John Sheldon and Edith Dowen 27 Sep 1704 at All Hallows London Wall Thanks Lou

Hi Lyla, I read that Lloyd's Captains' Registers 1851-1947 are at Guildhall. I am looking for a Captain Thomas Wenham who was in merchant navy's foreign service in 1861 so I'm hoping he is listed in this record and more information is avaliable there. Thanks for your help, Jessica

Irene & Kate So sorry but the Guildhall does not hold the records for Westminster. These would probably be held at Westminster Archives. Lyla
