Thank you Mary.Yes She married a James Woods in Wells.they were both living there. They got married in 1821.There are lots of Griffin in Stiffkey. One name for the men is Absolom. One died in 1841 at 86.I wonder if it was her father. The Christiana has come though the family as a name or middle name to my mother. thank you for trying Daphne

JAMIE Just had a thought, probably way of base but worth looking into. what if on the 1861 census where she is recorded as Daughter in law. (could it be possible that the wife of the household was her mother and that is just the way they wrote it down daughter in the law instead of adopted daughter I know it might seem far fetched but with some of the trascriptions and the way the recorders of the era wrote things it could be a possibility Mary ps would give you a headache as well

JAMIE Yes very interesting. you could be right I have been searching for the parents of one of my scottish ancestors only to find he was taken in by his grandparents but on some census records he is registered as mothers surname and in later life as fathers name most frustrating. hope you find something soon. I will keep trying let me know if you need anything else Mary

Hello Mary Yes it is very interesting, I already have her on the 61 census, but I dont see how she can be married as she is only 13 and using her birth name. I know she went on to marry Robert Fudge in Amesbury and died about 1875 I have found her mother as Dianna Swatton/Kilford on a later census and also (with the help of others) on the 51 census mistranscribed as Swallow, but not with her daughter and I would expect her to be at home at 3 years old I am now wondering if she was not actually Dianna's daughter but that of another member of the family and just taken in by her. Many thanks jamie
