Hi Sheila, Thank you for your kind offer! I am totally stuck! I am trying to find information on my father's side of the family. I am rather new to all this and hope that you may be able to offer some information and/or advice... here are the details I have so far: My Gt-Gt Grandfather was called Joseph Towman but apparently changed his name to Livingstone. He was said to be a Romani Gypsy and the last traveller in the family, he was an orphan and was taken in by an old couple who looked after him and he took their name Livingstone, though not officially as Towman was said to be on his pension book when he died. However he married in the name of Livingstone. He was born in N Ireland, Portadown, Armagh. He married Lena Cane (maybe Kane?). This is all I know and have exhausted every avenue in my search! My grandfather... Daniel Livingstone, born Armagh I think around 1900? He was in the RIF in 1915 and I found a record with his address at the time being 44 John Street. He used to make Bow Top caravan's and sell them. He died around 1939 in Barrow-in-Furness apparently of gangreen to the legs. The address I found was 69 Harrison Street. I don't know what year he married my grandmother Mary Hamilton. Mary was also said to be of Romani decent on her mother's side, and I think one of her brother's was called Jimmy and was a horse dealer. I was told that Mary was the illigitimate daughter of a parson but not sure of the accuracy in this info. In Portadown she was known as 'Marry' She died in 1945 at James Henry Street Salford 5, Manchester. I can't find any details of her or her parents. Daniel and Mary had 6 sons James Patrick, Stephen (dob 19/10/26), Vincent (Bing), Jack (dob 16/06/31), Daniel, Frances (Frank) and 3 daughters Bridgette (Bridey), Bernadette and Ethel. All born in Portadown. I can only find 2 of Daniel's brothers (assume there were more as they had big families back then) Stephen who died in the 1970's, and James Patrick who was also in the army record I found with the same address as Daniel's listed. (1st Royal Infantry) Daniel's regiment number: 5361 (1915) JP Livingstone 11842 (1915). I'm sorry this is all so long and thank you in advance for taking the time to read it, and also for any information you may be able to offer me! Best wishes Risha
