Ali, I appreciated the previous info you sent me about my Thomas Jarvis. Wondered if you'd be able to see his parents on your CD too? GIBEON JARVIS to MARY WICKHAM, Ticehurst around 1797 Thanks in advance! Barbara

Thank you very much for this offer. I wonder if you could look for any GEALL marriages around the Ripe/Laughton area. Also if you're not too inundated with requests, I'm looking for SHEPPARD marriages in East Grinstead. With many thanks.

Hi Alison, Could you possibly look up a Joseph Jones (thankfully not common back then in Sussex!!) after 1830, he married a Mary but cannot read her surname on their sons birth certificate, area probably Eastbourne. Thank you very much, Clare.

Alison Thank you so much for finding my Joseph Obbard and Mary, its lovely to have a surname for her at last. The reason I asked how many Obbard marriages were on the CD is because I am doing a one-name study - don't panic I'm not going to ask you to look at them all for me (lol)- but I am now wondering if it would be worth me investing in a copy of the CD myself. I have other names in Sussex in my family tree as well as the one-name study. Would be really interested to know where you got it from, how much it cost and what parishes it covers. Once again thank you so much for the info. Sylvia

Richard, Sorry - almost forgot. Unfortunately, there were no matches for your John Boyd (inc. surname variations). Its possibly too late a record to be on the CD, perhaps. All the Best Ali

Hi Richard, The only George & Ann's on the CD were: Extract from the Sussex Marriage Index: Place: Hastings All Saints, East Sussex, Date: 20 Oct 1811: Subject: George PHILLIPS Spouse: Ann ADAMS Extract from the Sussex Marriage Index: Place: Hastings All Saints, East Sussex, Date: 30 Sep 1828: Subject: George PHILLIPS Spouse: Ann TICHBON Extract from the Sussex Marriage Index: Place: Hastings St. Clement, East Sussex, Date: 26 Feb 1838: Subject: George PHILLIPS Spouse: Ann ETHERDEN They're all a bit too late - the CD isn't an exhaustive list so there could still be a record for the marriage somewhere. Just in case these are of any help to you - here are the marriages for a George Phillips around the 1790's: Extract from the Sussex Marriage Index: Place: Hastings All Saints, East Sussex, Date: 6 Jul 1786: Subject: George PHILLIPS Spouse: Elizabeth BROWN, (lic) Extract from the Sussex Marriage Index: Place: Pagham, West Sussex, Date: 18 Jun 1793: Subject: George PHILLIPS, Chich. Hi Sylvia, Extract from the Sussex Marriage Index: Place: East Grinstead, West Sussex, Date: -- Nov 1788: Subject: Joseph OBBARD, otp Spouse: Mary TOMSETT, of Fletching Extra Information: BANNS only I did a search specifying surname variations resulting in 27 matches - unfortunately I can only copy one at a time. Let me know if you'd like others looking up. Interestingly, when I did this I discovered this record. This must have been the actual marriage that followed after the Banns record in 1788. No wonder its so tough to find people sometimes! Extract from the Sussex Marriage Index: Place: Fletching, East Sussex, Date: 4 Jan 1789: Subject: Joshua OBBARD, of East Grinstead Spouse: Mary TOMSETT, otp (B) All the Best Ali

Hi Alison Would you be able to look for the marriage of George Phillips and Ann, circa 1790. Their first child was baptised in Horsham in July 1791, but I've already checked the Horsham registers and couldn't find their marriage there. Possibly they were from one of the nearby parishes? Also seeking the marriage of John Boyd & Jane, circa 1835. He was from Steyning, but again his marriage was not in the Steyning register. Any help much appreciated, Richard in Australia.

Dear Alison, Please could you have a look for me and see if you can find the marriage of Samuel Cornwell, (or Cornwall) probably at St. Nicholas' Church, Brighton just prior to 1837. The wife's name could be Jane. Many thanks, Lynne

Hello Alison Could you please have a look for a marriage for me? The Husband is Joseph Obard (could be spelt Obbard) the wife is Mary ? the marriage would have taken place some time between 1775 and 1785 (unless of course they married after the birth of their first child...) the area would probably be around East Grinstead. Sorry I can't be more specific. I would also be interested to know how many other Obbard or Obard marriages the CD contains.
