Hi Sally, would you be able to look up an Alice Foers on the 1871 please. the place would be Whiston, Yorkshire. She was born in 1790 and in 1871 would be a widow. I'm interested in who was in the house with her. And if you don't mind would you also be able to see if you can find her children? They were John Foers b1823, Lydia Foers b1834(she remained unmarried) Rebecca Foers b1826 and Mary Foers b1831 (the last two could have married though) Thanks a lot julia

Hi Sally, Lets try 1871 again. Emmanuel and Ann Fenwick - no ages, Emma 1846, Ann 1847 and John 1848. The three children's births were registered in Castle Ward district which I believe to be in the Gosforth area. There may be other children older/younger. These were all I could find in the vicinity of Emma's birth. Thanx beth :)

Hi Sally, Emma married Thomas Williamson 21st Jan 1874 in Witton Gilbert. In 1881 they were living in Greatham where her age was 31 and birthplace transcribed as Bilmans Village, Northumberland. In 1891 she was in Charles St Seaton Carew, County Durham aged 44?. I don't have a copy of the census for that year so unsure of birthplace and was unable to find them in 1901. Her marriage cert gives the father's name as Emanuel but that name doesn't appear again my tree. She had a son Ernest, could her father have used that name ordinarily? Beth :)

Sally, Re my earlier posting. Their maiden name was Marrow. I have certificates for marriages of their two brothers in Burnley in 1895 & 1900 so I know they lived in that area. Jim Sally, Can you please look for two sisters on the 1901 census. Both born in Hull, Yorkshire and probably living in Lancashire as I believe they married in Burnley in the 1890s. I'd like to see if they have any children. Mary McClellan age 34 Elizabeth Hitchen or Foster age 26 Thanks, Jim Brown

Hi Sally, I really don't know. Sophia should be 29 as she was 19 on the 1881 census. I see now why you didn't know if it was the right family and I think her husband Alfred Albert Mann was born 1861 Faversham Kent so he should be 30. Thanks for all the time and effort you have put in to this one. I think it will go in a maybe box.

Sally, Thank you again for the info you found for me on Tom Shirley Rose. As is often the case in this game, the info raises more questions than it answers, but since Tom is shown as brother in law, I guess I have found another sibling I did not know about! I do wonder why Lucy Maria Rose does not appear on the 1871 census though? She didn't marry until 1878 so she should have been there. Oh well! Thank you again Sally. All your help has made such a difference to my progress. Sharon

Hi Sally, Maybe Alfred Albert and Sophia Mann had no imagination. They married in 1881 Faversham Kent and I see there is also a birth for Albert Alfred Mann Sept Qtr 1891 Faversham Kent so maybe Sophia Mann aged 2 on the 1891 census is their daughter. I don't know how the programme works. If you look for Sophia Mann aged 2 does it give the household? Thanks very much. Christine
