Danielle, these are all the DAWES in the index. I can do a list of CHURCH STREET if you need it. It looks like quite a long street with many people and occupations, but you have to remember that only the head of house is listed as the name and the occupations could be for other people in the house but who they are it doesn't tell you ( I hope that makes sense ) Dawes, Henry Thomas Street, Water Lane [west side] 1 carpenter, 1 bricklayer Dawes, Henry Hockley Street, Water Lane 1 yeast dealer Dawes, James Fox Lane, Elizabeth Place, Kingsland 17 1 labourer Dawes, William Brook Street, Upper Clapton 2 labourers Esta :) .......................................................................................... Ben, No COOMBES - sorry Esta :)

Hello I have hit a HUGE brick wall - seems unbreakable at this point but you never know....am searching for a James Dawes (born c1810) an Inn Keeper in 1854. His Daughter Mary Ann Dawes for born c1833-1840 in 'Church Street' Hackney London Middleses. I cannot determine an exact birth year as the age given on her marriage cert and on the census records is way out, I think she was actually only about 16 when she married in 1854 to John Snow. Sorry I dont have more on James Dawes. Any info on Dawes in the area would be much appreciated. With thanks Danielle

Hello Esta, If it's at all possible, I would be tremendously grateful if you could check for any members of the Hickin family in Hackney at that time. It might just solve a mystery for me! Thank you for your kind offer, and apologies to all if this message appears on the board twice - I don't know what's going on with my connection here today. Angela - Bexley, Kent
