Hi Deb, I wonder if you could look up Robert Chubb for me please. He married Elizabeth Rees June 1872 (Pontypridd) and he died 13th January 1879 in a explosion at Dinas Colliery (Pontypridd) age 29. I have found his widow and children on the 1881 census living in Penygraig, Llantrisant, Glamorgan. I am trying go back a little further to find his parents, but I'm not getting very far. I cant find the birth of Robert Chubb either. Many Thanks Angela

Hi Deb Many thanks the occupation ties in and all the rest of the family so pretty sure the same person, must have either been mistranscribed of perhaps she was registered Alice, all I know is all later information lists her as Elizbeth Anne. Many thanks at least have found her in 1871, was beginnng to think she only exists in 1881. Thanks a lot, very grateful to you Maureen

Hi, Thanks for that info. At the moment I don't think it fits, but anything is possible. In 1881, John APPLETON age 11 was the stepson of Mary E and Richard TOMPSON, living in Deptford St Paul. Then I have the 1891 gap I'm sleuthing now. In 1901, Mary E THOMPSON and John APPLETON (31) son are living together at 53 Long Lane, Southwark. I think I'm likely to find them as either still living in Deptford (with or without husband Richard Thompson) or in Southwark or Bermondsey. The entry you found looks like it is a family that is a lot more permanent than 10 years. But I'll keep it because who knows if it will fit somewhere. Thanks very much, Debra, Jo (Canada)

Hi Debra, I wonder if you could do a look-up for me on the 1891 census. Mary Elizabeth T(H)OMPSON age 52, born Woolwich, Kent. She may be in Deptford St Paul, married to Richard T(H)MPSON, or her husband might have died and she changed her name to APPLETON and living in the Bermondsey, Lambeth area. Could you also please look for John APPLETON age 22. born Greenwich, Kent. May be with his step mother, Mary Elizabeth (above), or living out on his own but still in the London area. Thank you very much. People like you who do look-ups are a godsend. If it turns into a hassle, forget it. Jo(Canada)

Hi Debra It says Newington Surrey on 1881 census but can find no trace of her birth, Children in 1991 census also born in Newington Surrey, However it appear Newington Surrey at one point was Southwark and another St George in the Field or St George Marytr also seems to go between London and Surrey, Elizabeth married in 1875 but was widowed sometime after 1884, but not sure if before or just after 1891 but had 5 children before 1884 but none I know of after then, I know Elizabeth worked in the Theatre once she was widowed I believe the one near Drury lane. As I say I can not find any trace of her in 1901 yet know she was alive. Have Found her daughter Georgina May married and living in Lambeth. Thanks for trying will uderstand if you have no luck. Sorry I cannot supply any more information Thanks again Maureen
