Oh, I hope you're not too inundated with reguests, because I am pestering you for another. 1871, Kent (Greenwich, Woolwich or Deptford). Jane Frances Gosden, born Greenwich 1846. Could you also let me know who/where she's living? Edward John Gosden, born Greenwich 1869. This little mite could also be listed as John Appleton (for some as yet ascertained reason). Mary Elizabeth Gosden, born Woolwich 1839. Perhaps she is Mary Elizabeth Appleton. If so, where is she living and with whom? She might also be Mary Elizabeth Tompson married to Richard Tompson (born 1834), perhaps living in Deptford St paul. If you are able to find these it will be a major breakthrough!!! Also, in the 1891 census could you please check on the Tompson family. Are they and John Appleton (son or step-son) at 1 Esther Cottages, Deptford St Paul. Is Richard still alive, or is Mary Elizabeth a widow. Is John Appleton still there. OR is Mary Elizabeth living at 53 Long Lane, Bermondsey (or is it still St Georges, Southwark). Is John Appleton with her (listed as son or step-son)? As you can see, by the latter part of this request, I have a number of puzzle pieces, and need to clarify who went where and when. Thank you so much for doing this. You can't imagine how it would be to get some of my unanswere quandries cleared away. (Yes, I know, we get one set answered only to be plagued by more. But these particular ones have been going on for soooo long! Jo

Hi Tracey Thanks so much for the information-I had no idea of William Pepper's birth year so it's been a great help. The James Pepper I was looking for would have been in his 60s, so maybe he had died by 1871. Thanks again Heather

Hi Tracey I would appreciate a look-up for some Bedfordshire ancestors on the 1871 census if you have the time. William and Mary Pepper, probably living in Biggleswade,Mary would be about 34 (she was a widow by 1881,I am assuming William was alive in 1871) John Brittain (a gardener in 1850s) probably living in Potton or Biggleswade. James Pepper (watchmaker), probably living in Bigglewade. Thankyou very much for your time! Heather
