Thanks, Lynda, appreciate your help. I'll put out a message to see if there is a Kent census for 1871. Take care. Betty

According to info my grandma, Charlotte Amy Killick, was either born at 57 George St So, Greenwich Kent in 1878 or lived there at sometime prior to her marriage in 1902. Is this any help in tracking the family? I think it should probably be a census before or around 1878 (not 1851) my error. The family probably did not live on George St during 1851. Can you check out a census around 1878 for me by any chance/ Thanks, Lynda. Betty

Thanks, Lynda, re George St, Greenwich. As it was in Kent at the time, would it, therefore, come under a Kent census (if there was one?) ?And, if so, how I do I go about checking it out? Thanks for your help. Betty

St George's Barracks is in Westminster, and I've now discovered it's not the same as the Wellington Barracks but a separate establishment near Trafalgar Square (behind the National Gallery). I would have thought it was a large enough insitutation to have been listed without a full address - but looking at it on an 1862 map it could be described as in Trafalgar Square, Orange Street, Castle Street or St Martins Street. Thanks, Gill

St George's Barracks (this I think is the one now called the Wellinton Barracks on Birdcage Walk) - could you please look to see if there's a Pte John Doughty there (he gave it as his address when he married in 1852). I'm anxious to find out where he was born, because I although I now know his father's name I haven't a clue where to look for him! Thanks a lot Gill

Hi Lynda, Do you have a surname index? If so, please look for Mary Ann Jones, born Cripplegate about 1842. Her father was Ellis Jones. Many thanks, Lilian
