Find Ancestors

I wondered if anyone could help me please. Im looking to find Henry Purt (Harry) in 1901 census born about 1866 to John Purt. I don't know mothers name. Henry was born in Bury St Edmunds Suffolk. I don't know wether the name Purt has been mistranscribed, i just can't find him. Thank you if you can help.

Which census are you stuck with? Is it 1871 & 1881.....or 1901? Have you tried any mistranscriptions for 1881? Reg

Hi Jackie, Cant find your Purts earlier than 1891...yet,but just popped on to say the Harry Purt born 1868,Mutford died july qtr 1868. Will look some more.

Jackie, I have looked under Purt/Pert/Pirt/Part...no joy. There is a John Pert on 1871 with wife Jane Elizabeth, his occ is stable labourer. (John 1833 Bury St Edmonds, Jane 1831 Gloucs). Children; George 1857, (Gloucs) James 1861 (Worcs) William 1866 (Bury St Edmonds) John 1867 (Bury St Edmonds) Frederick 1870 (Bury St Edmonds) No Harry/Henry. I cant even find a birth for him :0(((

Jackie, This is a real long shot...but I have found a Harry Purt on the 1881. Family of ; Charles Cockrill age 69 farmer John Cockrill 37 Laura Cockrill 36 Harry Burt age 12 then a few Cockrill grandchildren. Harry is listed as grandson of Charles Cockrill. On earlier census, Charles has a daughter Elizabeth....she marries Thomas Phillips Purt oct qtr 1860. I haven't yet followed Elizabeth and Thomas, but maybe Harry was bought up with Charles and his son John...so he thought John was his father? ( Darn it I have to go to work now, so cant follow on These are in Suffolk still. Will come back with ref in a mo. Pakenham...RG11 piece 1841 folio 38 page 22 Scrap that ....he's Harry Burt, so are Thomas and Elizabeth...grrrr!
