Hi Narelle
Have you tried scotlandspeople for your family??

It really is the best place to look for Scottish ancestors.£6.00 of credit should get you enough to find your folks and you will get a lot more info than from the Ancestry versions of the censuses.

Hi Mary

Re Thomas Jones, thanks for looking. I think the only hope was finding a Benjamin Jones, oil refiner. Thomas's address at marriage was 45 Southam St, Kensington but as this was 1885, I don't expect him to be there on a census. He isn't at home with his family in West Ham 1891 and by 1901 the marriage had been annulled as he was (apparently) found to be a bigamist, so I can't pin him down in that year either.
He may have been working on a ship (as fireman) in 1891 but I've searched before and not found him.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Nichole

1851 census
Bell Inn 28 Medina Terrace,Northwood IOW
Ann Morris age 23 is a Domestic servant in the household of James Noble,a Licensed victualler.

1841 census shows 3 possibles, all living away from home as Female servants,so not able to be be sure which uis correct .
BUT the IGI shows Ann Morris christened 13/April 1828 at Mottiston, parents John and Charlotte.

1841 Hawkshill,Mottiston,IOW
the only Morris family in the village
John Morris 40 Ag lab
Charlotte Morris 40
William Morris 15
Charlotte Morris 11
John Morris 9
Emma Morris 7
Martha Morris 5
Mark Morris 3
Charles Morris 7mths

I believe Charlottes maiden name was Hayward, from IGI record for birth of son William.
