I don't have a precise date of emigration. Agnes and James came back to marry in England and went back to SA soon after although I can't find them in any passenger lists. Their eldest son Herbert was born in 1905 in SA so I know they were back by then.

James' father was a cashier according to the marriage certificate so that throws out the census finds although that may have not been strictly true. My mother remembers cousins of my grandmother coming to visit called Stuart and Jess from Helensboro although they may have been from James' mothers family, not his fathers.

My grandmother only died 2 yrs ago aged 99, why on earth didn't we ask her more questions.....
