Trying to find Edward Dubury Wilson in any censuses.

According to his 1904 marriage certificate he was born in 1876 in Holloway, London and was described as a Railway Carriage Cleaner. His father was a Charles Dubury Wilson who was a Cutler.

I know Wilson is a common name but I can't even find his father on any censuses and I assume not that many of them were Cutlers.

Any help appreciated

It's entirely possible that that's him. If it is I wonder what he was doing in Yorkshire. I really need to find him with his own family although it had crossed my mind that his father, being a cutler, could have come from somewhere like Sheffield.

Thanks for your time

I think Miss Mary may have been a bit long in the tooth to have been having a son in 1876??

Wow - I nip to the bathroom and come back to loads of fantastic info
Big 'Thank You' to everyone.

However it seems unlikely that Mary Birch was Edward's mother because if she was 49 when she married Charles in 1862 she would have been 63 when he was born in 1876. Perhaps I need to look for a death and another marriage for Charles.

Here's a later marriage. No wonder I couldn't find him with a Mary in 1871.

He's a widower, still a tinman and staying in West Ham. His father seems to still bealive and a labourer.
She wa a widow of 4 Fair Street and her father was a servant.

Would you believe 5 Charles Wilsons married in Islington between 1862 and 1876 and I can only rule out 1, middle name James.

Thank you so much alviegal - I'll try and follow that one up in the censuses, although she would have been 56 when she had Edward.

Can I ask you which program you are using to find that sort of marriage information? Is it one of the upgraded Ancestry packages? if so I think it might be worth investing in when the time comes to renew.

If that last one is him he certainly got through a few wives :-)

The 1881 would be really useful as Edward would only have been about 6.

This could be Mary Ann
