i am trying to find for my uncle in canada a family of wilsons on the isle of wight his father james was born in 1897 he had a brother called laurie and a sister sorry no name they were orphaned when both parents were killed a titled lady took them in for a while and then they were sent to a anglian orphanage in london his father joined the dorset regiment in the first world war his mother was called edith harriet chalker

I could not cross reference this. It showed Wilson, but could not get his first name.

If you apply for a copy of the certificate it will give his name and their ages, and their Father's names and occupations, along with witnesses who may be siblings.

With this we can then go to the 1901 census. Let me know . Ethel.

his fathers name is james roland, ethel sent me info that he got married in christchurch in 1917

his fathers name was james roland wilson born on the isle of wight in sandown 18/11/1891

i cant find any record of a james roland wilson in the 1901 census i think this was the time he was in canada

Have you tried the 1911 Census?? You might have to try each province but they are online free

I have got james roland wilsons birth certificate his father was called james and was born in 1864 his mothers maiden name was alice woodbridge

James Roland Wilson b 1891, orphaned young, married Edith Chalker 1917 & was in WW1.

You say you can't find him in 1901 because he might be in Canada?

my uncles father was james roland wilson born 1891 in sandown isle of wight his father and mother were james wilson born 1864 not sure of birth place his wife was alice woodbridge born c1865.James roland wilson was orphaned at a young age he was taken in by somekind of church he left england for canada but returned to marry edith chalker in 1917 i am now trying to trace his father james wilson and his mother alice woodbridge will check the marriage info .My uncle born in 1928 in bournemouth still lives in canada but knows hardly anything about his family
