Was Thomas Young bc 1786 married to Alice or Jane

I wonder if anyone can help. I have recently been given a supposedly complete family tree of my maternal grandmother's side of the family. I think that the person who complied it (HE) has made a mistake and wonder if anyone can help!

HE has noted that my ggg grandfather Thomas Young,b 1786 a shepherd from Wooler in Northumberland was married to a Jane Gallon OR an Alice. I can only find a record of Thomas marrying Alice. Alice comes from Scotland - but I can find no record of her maiden name.

Thomas parents were George Young b c 1765 in Chatton, Northumberland and according to HE - Susannah Gibson (though I have no details on her).

Thomas had a son William Young bc 1824 in Wooler, Northumberland, was a Master Cobbler, moved to Alnmouth and married three times - to Frances, Anne and then latterly Margaret Kinnaird. I am descended from William and Margaret. This I know is correct. One of their children is Frances Young bc 1867 a children's nurse who married my g grandfather William Bilton bc 1868.

I have found Jane Gallon on Family Search and she isn't married to William Young - perhaps someone out there can solve this mystery. I also need to find the maiden name of Alice!

Many thanks
Susan

Do you have any names and dates of children? Have you tried to search for data on thier birth to see who their parents were stated as?

This is your Thomas's birth data?

Thank you Wayne. The information I have is as follows: The children were:
Anne 1819
Mary 1826
Thomas 1928
Elizabeth 1830
Jane 1833
William1824

Therefore it would seem to be correct that Thomas perhaps married twice firstly to Alice from Scotland and then to Jane Gallon in 1821? So the person who did the family tree was correct.

Thank you so very much.
Susan

I would definately suggest if he married Jane, she was either his first wife or that he married her in later life?

Hi Susan, I suspect you are looking at the copy of the family tree I once sent to George Bilton. Your Grandma, Millicent was sister to mine , Mary, who came to Australia.Do get in touch (I'm new to this site) ...can share more info with you, especially in regard to the Redshaws and the Biltons.

Many thanks for those replies .... the 'Young/Gallon/Liddell conundrum' will now need to be sorted out in my mind .... 'Wor Susan' may one day return to this thread and send a response, I don't know her married name and I've lost touch with my English family over the past 50 years.
