This is still bugging me!

Rowena, do you have William's marriage cert or his son's birth ? If he was in the army at the time, his army number would be on the cert. If it's the same as the number on the medal card I found it might prove that they were both in the Army.

There is a Thomas A Brewerton in Birkdale listed as a visitor, born in Padiham and a family Thomas and Caroline Brewerton living in Padiham so I wonder does this rule that one out. Selina 1891

Maybe someone can trace this chap on the 1891 and see if father is Henry

Births Dec 1885
Brewerton Thomas Atkinson Burnley 8e 256

According to the army papers, Thomas was born Sept/Oct 1885 not 1886 but my maths is really bad.

Same here Potty oh I wish the 1911 was out at least then we could see where William was living if he wasn't around but Thomas was then it would verify our theory.
Yes we have managed a bit of info for Rowena.

I don't think they checked any of the information given when men signed up for WW1. If they had, many of the underaged boys who signed up and were killed wouldn't have been.

Germaine

Germaine Report 24 Feb 2008 17:09

Well it is pointing to that . I don't know Rowena how much info they had to give don't know if they checked men out .
Just a quick thought too I have only looked at the free bmd upto now and though I can find children to Thomas with mmn as Lazenby I can't see any with the mother Swaine only goes as far as 1920 .
Strange will go see what I can find.
