Susan,

Do you know approx when Francis and Christina married?, I can't find a marriage on Free BMD.

The marriage cert would give you their father's names and occupations and help to trace them in 1901 as the only Francis born around that time was in Devon.

This could be Christina in 1891

Hi Gerri
Could you look for Albert Charles Webster b1898 Aldershot.
I have his marriage certificate to Ellen Jones b 1900 in 1926 on that his father is given as Albert Webster deceased,a licenced victullar, would like to find out as much as is possible about him.

dont know if you can help or not am trying to find my mother-in-laws parents.Their names are Francis Howard born in 1894 ? not too sure of year,in Wiltshire.Christina Chivers(maiden name) born in1889 ?not sure of year.born in Somerset we think They had 2 children,Isabell and Albert.

Can I ask for some advice. I have been very lucky in that I have made contact with new relatives and they have been very helpful but how do I go about finding relatives before the 1841 census. i have looked on The Weald and luckily found some on there but where else do I go?

We need to find George H. Smith Born Wiltshire 1847.

Occupation 'Blacksmith'

In 1881 he was living with wife in Westhampnett Sussex.

Where is he after 1881???? (prob with another woman)

Found them on the 1891 and she is listed as Married.
The kids are a bit muddled up (mistranscribed) but looks like the youngest was born c1885. So George must have been around in 1884 ish.

Trouble is theres loads of George Henrys born around that time and place! as i suspect you already know!....and having the surname of 'Smith'....,,,Need i say more!

I really dont know what to advice you on!...sorry Sara.

Leave the thread on here and check back every now n then...Maybe someone else will take a look for you...

ok, in 1891 I have Frances in Aldingbourne, W, Sussex. Don't know if married or widowed. Kids are Frederick Lester(from 1st marriage), Nelson Smith1883 and Frederica Ellen M Smith 1884, both Nelson and Frederica born Westhampnett.

That 1891 census Susan found he is a widower and his occupation is Carpenter so prob not your man.

Your man was a blacksmith.

I see that the Marriage was 1956 quarter 4 too..

I have also checked the full birth index for the years...1956/7/8/9 and 1960 'Aldous' with MMN 'Skipper'...
