Greeting’s Again…….Sylvia.

Yes that list of the Siblings is my research findings
For some one wanting to know who Alice belonged to.

I’ve had another look at the Parish Marriage Registers for the 1754. .

Sorry but this what happens when several people are asking for the same
In formation on the same person.

I have rechecked my rough Records Office look up notes

From my rough record office notes dated 23.0ct.08.

I have checked out that page on this thread ( Page No’. 2. )
and it would appear that after I had reread my post I altered a date that was wrong. & I must have clicked the delete button.........
It was a simple adjustment so I did not re read it again plus it was late.
That’s why there is a deleted post on this page……..SORRY……

Anyway this is what I did find out for Sophia Everatt events in Hinckley :~

Fiche No’. D E 1135. / 18. 3 of 3 fiches.

MARRIAGES ANNO DOMINI 1791.:~

Sylvia Report 19 Oct 2009 14:37

No worries there Mike,

When you said the burial for Adam Underwood 1813 said his wife was Mary Bates, i thought there must be another Adam Underwood, Most of the trees say there is one born 1742 to Adam and Mary Underwood nee Bates, who married Mary Robinson 1767, but no one can find his baptism, which makes me wonder if there was one, but from what you have found for me they did not have a son called Adam, see below,

My list as of Transcribed events from the Parish Baptism Registers.
These were done by fellow members of
Leicester & Rutland Family History Society

Reads thus :~

Siblings of Adam & Mary née Bates.:~

1754.Ann. 3.RD. AUGUST.
1756. Munk. 20.th.October.
1758. William. 5.th.November.
1760. Mary. 12.th.August.
1762. Margaret. 28.th.November.
1765.ALICE.23.RD.MARCH.

Siblings of Adam & Mary née Robinson. :~

1767. Rebecca.18.th.October.
1769. Thomas. 4.TH.JANUARY.
1770. Joseph. 25.th.June.
1772. Adam.25.TH.DECEMBER. (my ancestor)
1775. Elizabeth. 25.th.March.
1777. Frances. 19.th.January.
1780. Lyddy.28.th.May.
1783. William. 23.rd.February.
1785. John. 28.th.July.

Therefore Alice belongs to the 1st.Marriage going on Mary’s Burial 1766.

What i am trying to figure out is, was there one Adam Underwood that married twice or is there another Adam Underwood that married Mary Robinson, who was not the son of Adam and Mary nee Bates.

Hope you understand that.

Thank you for your hard work

Sylvia

Eek !!...... indeed….:o/

To quote one of your fellow Countryman…….

” Houston we have a PROBLEM…. “

After I had found Adam’s Burial in 1813. which stated he was the Husband of Mary…….
I looked for a possible Marriage of an Adam Underwood to a Mary ?.
In Thorpe Satchville …and came up with Mary Bates 29th. April. 1754.
Which seem right…….So posted née Bates to help you to go back further…….
So…….
Since you did not think the Burial was yours. I have had a good old dig around
My Disks…….

I returned back to that Marriage then noticed that on the same Disk an Edward Underwood also Married in Thorpe Satchville the same day….But did not think to open the file……… But when I did
Edward Underwood ALSO had Married Mary Bates, on 29th. April……….Oh Eek !!!

Any way I then checked out the Marriages for Thorpe Satchville via another Disk….
”Phillimores early Leicester County Parish Marriages.”
Seems who ever transcribed those Marriages for the 26th of April on my 1st Disk had made a
“ Right Dogs Dinner” of it……..
Turns out Edward Underwood was in fact an Edward HARDING. Who married an Ann Reeve by Licence 30th JULY.

But this lead me on to find a marriage of Edward Underwood to Mary Robinson.

Further on in the second Disk I found it………

1764.:~ Thorpe Satchville Parish Church.
Edward Underwood ~ Mary Robinson…..Both of this Parish.
12th. April. By Banns.

So you have my Apology for miss leading you with duff information……
A lesson for us all here to double check everything……..

So I think you can take it that the Burial for Adam Underwood Aged. 85. in 1813
is the right one.

I found a Burial for Mary who died one year before Adam. : ~

St Andrew’s Parish Church Twyford cum Thorpe Satchville.
1812.

Mary Underwood.
Abode……… Thorpe Satchville.
23rd April.

No age given ( not unusual for this early date )
But in the Notes it states Wife of Adam Underwood.

But I feel I had better check the original Registers held at the Records Office
Now to make sure of all the above information….

I Apologise again…..

MIKE.

Hi Mike,

Can i be cheeky and ask if there is another burial for a Adam Underwood between 1785 and 1841 in Thorpe Satchville other than the 19 Aug 1813 one, with age if possible please,

Will understand if its too long a period to look at.

Thank you

Thank you very much for the info about the Gelsthorpes. A shame that there were no parent details, I just don't know how to go further back.

I believe that George Henry Gelsthorpe, born 1863, is the son of George Gelsthorpe and Clara nee Keightley, but it would be good to have confirmation.
