1871 - aged 14 - looks VERY good how did you find that name!!

Wedding wtinesses are - Matthias Phillips and Rachel James - I guess you are looking for siblings from that?

Chrissie, the name might seem way off but I think it's a very good find, well done you - Abergavenny does cover LLanover after all. I'd be tempted to get that cert if I were Nigel just to see - but who am I to be spending his money!

I may be totally way off here. Looking at the possible in 1871 both Jan and I found, there is a birth for a Harriet Hustence in Jun q 1857 Abergaveny.

I have checked both 1861 and 1871 and cannot find a Harriet Hustence and cannot find a death on Freebmd for her either prior to 1871.

It may well be that her dads name was Thomas and that he died before she married. On the other hand she may have been illegitimate and her dads name was invented for her mariage.

Sorry can't be more help.

My 1871 search doesn't pick that Abergavenny entry up at all - how do you do that please or could you post the complete entry?

Nigel

Nigel Report 17 Nov 2009 22:35

WOW Chrissie! - there is a Eunice in the family later on!
1881 she is living with a 'retired bank manager' Edward and Clara Price, 'Cae Derwen' Abergavenny. I'll post this and have a look at YOUR 1871 entry.
Back shortly x

Yes - I have her from 1881 census forward - I cannot get backwards!
I really appreciate you having a look see as well - I've spent a LOT of time eliminating other Harriets and Thomas's as I wonder if she was taken to Llanover/Goytre as a baby and simply assumed she was born there. Gonna take another headache pill :(

Where exactly was she working in 1881. In 1871 there is a Harriet Eustance born in 1857 in Llanover working as a servant in what looks like Penny Park Abergavenny. Maybe her???

Harriet (nee) Easton. was my Great-gran.
First seen 1881 - dom.servt - aged 24 born Llanover - working Abergavenny.
Q2 1888 marries Rees Prosser - age 30 - Dad THOMAS Easton DECEASED
1891 Census - with Hubby and child - again born Llanover
1901 Census with hubby and four children - 'born Goytre' (=Llanover)
1908 Harriet dies age 46 according to Rees (Bedwellty district) = Rhymney/Tredegar.
Therefore born 1857<1862 ish - Goytre/Llanover is consistent thoughout.
I can find no birth cert. or Parish records for her - no marriage for parents - no brothers or sisters.
Any idea how I can follow this line further back PLEASE!
Regards to all - Nigel.
(Hubby Rees/Reece Prosser and children all known and accounted for)
