Tabitha Report 28 May 2010 12:52

Susan - hope you are feeling better - you need to be well for the party - promise no red wine or cheese in your direction

Jeanie - i got the joke even if Robert didn't - you have to allow a little for his venerable age -

Would say we have a very good age range here - with a few more in the over 70's now - also 1 or 2 in the 60's - a few in the 50's and 1 or 2 in the 40's - its a very good mix.

Reece - Hope the OH is better - send him my love & good wishes for a very speedy recovery.

Anyone else discussing food - Frank did you take up on my idea for Raspberries or do you want me to make it ?
Jeanie will do a low fat one for you, Reece (if i remember correctly) & Frank - 2 sorts one low fat & one full fat so everyone can join in.

Will add my info tomorrow on the guess the person trail - not sure what time i can pop in - but will keep the barbie warm - anyone heard from Wayne? Is he going to do a fly past for us?

Evelyn what time plane/train are you - may meet you at the station - we can watch Josie arrive on the Northern Belle if she has recovered from frostbite.

Robert can recommend a good shell transporting company or is Frank giving you a lift on his way down as he is our chief of transport these days.

Sylvia how was the squish this time - i have another 2 years before my next one - can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cynthia - Curtains & Duvet look lovely - look forward to seeing them in place instead of on your person.

just for info I am a Libran - can't make a decision to save my life - it takes so long to sort things out - however my OH same birthday different year - also a Libran (of course he is - being stupid now) can make decisions with a snap of the finger - he is so different to me - very weird - must be to do with the 7 year age gap.

Off for a 1 to 1 with my manager now - he wants to go over my delvelopment plan - apparently we all need developing - what into i have no idea - so looking forward to it - i really am - does that sound convincing?

Take care all - see you all at the party

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 28 May 2010 14:14

What can I say? Not a lot actually Frank; got myself in a tangle in the middle of the duvet cover - had better get my children in to rescue me!!

Reece, do hope your OH is soon feeling stronger today and it will be lovely to see you at the party. You must take something home for him to enjoy.

Poor Sue, how horrible for you to have another migraine. Hopefully you'll be able to be with us - I can see the quiet room is going to be filling up fast.

Each time Josie or Sue mention their 'pot belly', I find myself breathing in :))

The promised offerings of food sound wonderful and I am really grateful to you all. Better get a few pretty decorations up I think.

Mustn't neglect my duties on here.

Tabitha, The joke is as old as I am(ancient) and not funny anymore.

Dozey Report 28 May 2010 16:02

Hi folks.

Sorry you didn't find it funny Robert. A bit feeble I know;-((

I'll look forward to the low-fat yogurt Tabitha. I'm fussy I know but no "bits" in it please.

I was telling my son about our planned get together and started singing "Let's get this party started". He promptly informed me it is a song about drug taking. You could have knocked me down with a feather. He asked what did you THINK "I'm coming up" meant? Well, if I thought about it at all I suppose I would have thought up the road, the drive, the staircase whatever. Certainly not that it meant getting high. Am I alone in my naivete here?

Shouldn't think there'll be much of that going on tomorrow where we are.

Any idea of the time it is all going to start? Bit difficult with a global network I suppose.

See you all tomorrow I hope.

Hello All,77 year old bossy Leo from Guernsey here, just to let you know I am still around. At the moment I have itchy eyes and having fits of sneezing, guess I have hayfever again but it wont stop me coming to the party tomorrow.
I dont know when we are supposed to mention clues as to who we are, well I will start the ball rolling, I have changed my sex will wear a one piece suit and a pork pie hat and was loved by MANY MANY people, I feel sure you will guess my identity at once but as I admired this man so much I dont mind.
So pleased a taxi will meet me at Manchester airport as I have so many goodies to bring with me, I have been baking for days now so I hope you are all hungry, I will carry the Guernsey cream in an ice box as we dont want sour cream do we?.
I shall arrive at the airport at 11.30 a m all suited and booted .
Must get an early night tonight as I dont want to fall asleep in the quiet room do I ?
Much love to all will see you tomorrow.

Hi everyone

Sue .... so sorry to hear that you had another migraine. Not good!

Anne ............ the squish wasn't too bad actually ..... it was the contortions the technician had me doing that were the problem!

well, I still haven't decided who I am going to be on Saturday, so I'd better my thinking cap on.

I'm not sure what's on tomorrow .................... but I'll certainly drop in.

If Sue is starting at 11 am UK time, things might well be very much in the swing by the time I arise from my bed at about 4 pm UK time! And if I don't manage to get on here until 9 or 10 pm ........... welll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeanie .......... I ddn't know that about that song. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm ...... I don't think we're likely to be raided though.

Though maybe I shouldn't ask "Did any one ever try marijuana?"

....... as our politicians and US politicians and political appointees are always asked. It's getting more and more difficult to find anyone who was a teenager or early 20s in the '60s who didn't have one puff!

Cynthia Report 28 May 2010 19:48

Jeannie, of course there will be plenty of drug taking here tomorrow.....paracetamol, aspirin, beta blockers, antihistamines to name but a few!!!

Robert, I am going to put you in charge of the quiet room if that's okay. If you could just make sure that everyone has the peace and quiet they need that would be great. Thanks.

Evelyn.....can't wait to see you again and with all that food! You're a gem.

Sylvia, don't worry, whatever time you get here you will be most welcome as you well know..

Must go and get tidied up a bit. Love to you all.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 28 May 2010 20:00

Jeanie - well you could have knocked me down with a feather - I never realised that - wonder if M & S did - as they had it as their Christmas comercial a year or 2 ago - also Dame Shirley sang it - wonder if she knew that.

I agree with Cynthia - lots of drug taking at our ages - diauretics, ibuprofen - as well as the other list.

I use to work at a youth club years ago - got use to the smell of the "grass" on the youngsters - never tried it though & don't really want to.

Have to go - OH in grumpy mood now as wants his dinner.

See you all tomorrow

Dozey

Dozey Report 28 May 2010 21:51

Tabitha,

Laughed out loud at Cynthia's post and then your little list. Tell me about it. First thing in the morning a pill to protect my stomach because then I have to take anti-inflammatories, blood pressure tablet & some pain killers. After that I rattle down the street on the dog walk - once the pain killers have taken effect of course.

No Sylvia - you shouldn't ask and I'm keeping stum! :-)

For you Sylvia, I will wait up specially. I'm sure we will catch up eventually. I will be with my children between 12-3ish but round and about other times.

Now, do I need an early night ready for the onslaught??

Maybe I do.

Goodnight all. You're such a nice bunch of friends to have. Cx

Happy Birthday Cynthia let me be the first to congratulate you on this auspicious occasion.

I know you will still be tucked up in your bed but it is already 10.30am Sat Morning here and I can't wait.

I planned to bring you a huge bunch of Balloons
but some sneaky American grabbed them while I was unloading the Pavlova from the Train and decided to take a flight back across the English Channel from whence I had just come.

The news report said he landed in a cabbage patch in Dunkirk. I ask you?

Haven't creamed the Pavlova let as it would have squished everywhere on the journey so wondered Evelyn whether you could spare some of your loverly cream?

Here are some clues to the person I have chosen to come as

She was born in the later part of the 17th century to a noble but impoverished family, she grew up on an Island. and married twice, her first husband gave her 2 children. she narrowly missed being executed along with her husband in 1794.

Good guessing everyone can not wait until you all wake up I want to start in on the loverly food that is coming.
And Frank are you bringing a wee drop of good scotch whiskey south of the boarder?

Kiwibird

Kiwibird Report 29 May 2010 04:07

Big sigh..... still here on my own where are you Susan?

you must have had lunch by now!

Such a long time till everyone wakes up I am like a small kid again eager to get partying.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR CYNTHIA
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

Josie don't worry I am up bright & early as busy day ahead - had to be up & away to get all the food ready & on its way "up North"

Looks like its going to be a lovely day in the UK from where I am - however the forecast is Heavy Rain in the Greater Manchester area.

Not ideal for a BBQ - good job you have the marquee available - I will set it all up in the sheltered area just incase & then we can ferry the food over.

Josie don't worry I have some Channel Island Cream - Evelyn express delivered it for me - use that & I will have some of hers when we collect her at the airport.

Must say the decorations look wonderful Cynthia - you must have been up all night preparing this for us.

Such a lovely quiet room as well & a space for Robert & his shell.

Pop back later as lots to prepare for the birthday girl - Josie want to lend a hand?

oops forgot the first clue -

She wrote pamphlets on Cosmetics & Alchemy & her first lover & father of 1 of her children was nearly 30 years older than her.

Hi Anne and Susan glad to see you up and about and rearing to go.

Thanks for the cream Anne,

glad to give you a hand

I know who you are but won't spoil it for the Birthday girl.[ Like the dress]

By the way Evelyn it looks like you will be joining Robert in the quiet room.
Though he may find it a bit too silent in there with you.

Cynthia

Just quick visit to wish you Many Happy Returns before I go and get ready for the party. Takes a long time to make myself presentable nowadays. The young lady who is doing my make-up will be arriving with her trowel quite soon!

First clue. I married on 25 January and had my daughter in the September (premature of course). Bit obscure? I hope so.

Luv
Jeanie

Thank you folks. Very grateful for your good wishes and really looking forward to all that food you have so kindly prepared.

Today, I am changing sex. Today, I am an English baronet c1790's.

Would it be okay to leave guessing who we all are until later this evening so that we can include as many friends as poss? Just hope that Josie and Sue don't fall asleep before then - but I'm putting a couple of comfy beds in an annexe off the quiet room - Robert will give directions.

Have just opened my cards and pressies - a mixture of flowers and funnies!!

Wet and chilly here unfortunately, but never mind, the gardens need a dunking. Going out for lunch with my family later so that's nice and will catch you all after that.

Love. Cx.
