A post by the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
announces some significant changes to their online historical indexes
which should make searching much easier. The wildcard search option in
all name fields is a particularly welcome addition for researchers.

Queensland State Archives have launched their Land Orders Index
1861-1874. The index has been long awaited and is a great resource for
anyone with an ancestor coming to Queensland during this period. The
land order registers are especially useful if your ancestor's original
immigration records were destroyed during the Queensland floods of the
late19th century as they include that essential detail: the name of
the ship of arrival
