Had a reply back from GR Team this morning, see below.


"I can confirm that the technical team have had a request for this thread to be restored, this will be done as soon as they have the time.

Your patience while we work to resolve this is much appreciated."

I suspect we might have a long wait then!

I'm beginning to think that I might not renew my membership when its due next.

As someone who doesn't know anything about Irish ancestry, I was able to point a person posting on General to the Irish thread (kindly nudged up by Joy) and they said that they found the records they needed within 20 mins that they had spent years looking for,

Hence it is a very useful thread :-D

After reading that Phil is away I have sent a copy of my message to the GR Team.

Lets hope the thread is restored soon!

And, Teresa, I posted on facebook Monday evening:
"I read that Phil Moir is on holiday. In his absence will any other member of staff be capable of restoring a thread that has gone missing again?

to which Genes Reunited staff replied:
" Hi Joy, we have asked one of the team if they can restore the thread for you."

I replied to that:
"Hello, Genes Reunited, and thank you. The Irish research tips thread has been of tremendous benefit to many researchers, and it has been very distressing to the original poster, Teresa, each time that her thread has disappeared. As you will be aware, I have also been distressed in the past when informative and other threads of mine have disappeared. At least now, since Phil Moir has been around, threads such as Teresa's have been restored by him. Please ask the technical team to resolve this issue as a matter of urgency."

Nothing further was seen posted by GR, so nine hours ago I typed:"Any news from any of the team, please?"
and two hours ago, I typed:
"Re my post (not far down, yesterday morning) about the Irish research tips thread, you responded " we have asked one of the team if they can restore the thread for you." - has the person said if he or she can restore it in Phil's absence? Many people over the years have been referred to the thread that has benefited many researchers, and it is becoming rather tiresome that it has disappeared again."

Luckily I have copied the original title/ thread

Why on earth do threads on Irish ancestry keep getting the heave ho? Does GR not approve of them?

This is ridiculous. That is one of the most useful threads for those researching Irish ancestors.

Googled the thread and found it
