This same family are still living in Shoreditch on the 1841 census. This time the name is spelt Pearson.

Barry, I think your William Pearson is on the 1851 census under the spelling Pierson. Living in Shoreditch.

This one was born in Shoreditch. His father is William Pierson, a basket maker from Manchester.

As MaureeninNY above says, the father of the William Pearson who married Maria Castleman was also William Pearson.

To get his Father's name you need the correct marriage certificate.
If William, 1863, is your great grandfather, what are his parents' names from his birth certificate?

Barry - Don't assume a registration district contains just one parish - even some modern RDs, like Lancashire and Gloucestershire contain 2 or more.

Thanka all. "astra" 1871 seems correct as William 1863 was my great grandfather. But still don't know parents of William 1838 as 1881 says he was born at St Lukes not St George the Martyr.

I don't know why Ancestry couldn't figure out folio=25. FMP had no bother:

This William is actually in a household with William Pearson, 30, Morocco leather draper or dresser, Isabella, 30, Eliza, 8, Jane, 6, and Mary Ann, 4.
William, Isabella and Eliza were born locally, the 3 youngest were not.

Have you got the marriage cert for William & Maria 1857? That will give you his father's name.
Have you found the unmarried William on the 41 or 51 census?

I have been trying for years to trace the parents of William Pearson b1838 at St Lukes (Islington or Shoreditch?). He married a Maria Sargent in 1857.
Any help would be really appreciated.
