Well it worked except it left my home page, but when you go back it gives the option to remove that too.
Thanks for asking this question. :-)

Maybe because this is a public forum and anything you post on here can be found on google

Can I be enlightened as to why, when I google G/F name and place as above, all the questions and answers that have been posted HERE on the subject are available in the public domain?

I think I've managed to crack it! I found a page I'd looked at before entitled "Removing Files, Photos, Trees & Links" ... this time I spotted that, further down the page from the section entitled "Trees to Remove", after which it said "No tree to be removed" (which had thrown me off track), there was ANOTHER section called "Reports to Remove" , after which it had "My Family History 5/5/2007" and a tick box. I ticked the box and then clicked on Remove Selected Items ... and now when I Google, say, my own grandfather's name + his place of birth and find a listing with under familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/ (etc., etc.), a Genealogy.com page comes up with "The page you have requested has been moved or deleted."
Can't tell you how relieved I am! Thanks! I'm never going to publish my tree again! <3

I have looked and looked and tried the suggestions ... but there is still no way I can see to edit or delete. The site recognises me and I can edit my home page (where I've put a great big disclaimer!), but the tree is simply inaccessible. I'm an Ancestry member, but my trees on there are way more recent, so they're not at all connected. I'm still completely stumped and feel very depressed about this. I've had a horrible email from a distant relative regarding using (attributed) quotes from an article she'd published online about her grandfather. Genealogy.com have still not responded to my email - or I should say second email, now.

Can you log in to your Genealogy dot com account? The option to delete your tree should be under My Account

Hi - very upset and shocked to discover a very old version of a tree is available to all and sundry online ... I can only imagine it came from me naively clicking on the publish button when I reached a certain number of people within my Family Tree Maker software. It is on Genealogy.com, but this appears to be affiliated to FTM. I have tried everything I can think of to delete the tree since I discovered it, including emailing the company (no response). I know the work contains loads of mistakes and very old, poorly written content (I don't think many of us start with unblotted copy books!). It seems everyone from my grandparents' generation and backwards is there, complete with detailed notes. HEEEEEELP!
