Yes, Firefox v15 is the current one.

V16 is also available as a beta version. I've not had any problems with it but probably best to avoid if you are not too computer literate just in case something throws a wobbly.

Not quite sure what you mean re your IE addons. Installing FF should not change the way that your IE was configured so nothing should have changed in that respect.

If you decide FF is to be your preferred browser then make this the default. It is entirely a personal decision. Personally I only ever use FF except in the rare occasions when something only works with IE.

IGP Do I tick for FF to be my Default Browser when instaling so I can keep IE as well.

Th last time I did download FF it put itself at the top of my Start list and IE about 5 down the list ..when i clicked on IE it can up but running with no add on's whatever that means .
Can you please explain as if talking to a child ...I am only 62 but really struggling.

As stated, installing FF will not delete IE, but you must choose which one you need as your default browser. The default browser is the one that will open when you click on a web url. In fact there is nothing to stop you having several browsers installed on your pc but only one will be the default.

The next thing to do is to put a shortcut icon for each of the browsers you have installed onto your desktop or your toolbar. I have IE and Firefox on mine. Then you simply choose which browser you wish to use by selecting the appropriate icon. But remember, as I said if you don't have a browser open and simply click on a url or web link, your default browser will be used.

I downloaded Firefox the other day. During the procedure it asks if you want an icon on your desktop. I said "yes". It also says "do you want Firefox as your defualt browser?" I said "no" as I am familiar with IE8 and want to keep it. (like you).

I now have the Firefox Icon available if I want it, but as far as GR is concerned i'm finding IE8/Windows XP handling things very acceptably (despite my super double extra rubbish Telefonica Hate them big time...Internet connection)

I have also glued a piece of wood to my laptop and touch this every time I load GR. That seems to be helping. ;-)

BTW I don't get spellcheck or emoticons when im running IE8/XP but i'm not bothered.

There's no problem with having both installed on your PC, and yes you can have both IE and FF open at once if you want.
It's just a case of choosing which one you want to take preference as your default.

Beverley :-)

Thankyou Bev.

I really would like to keep both ,I know a lot of the members have both running at the same trime.

I hate it that I do not know this stuff ,so infuriating to have to ask the Grandchildren all this stuff all the time ...just trying to do something myself for a change and I can't even get that right :-(

Hi
I just had a look on my ststem.
I am using Firefox.
I went to Control Panel - Internet Options -´then along the row of tabs at the top, 'Programs'.
There is then an option to change 'Default Web Browser'.
Tick or untick as required.

Hope this helps.
