I did contact Support, but I can now enter my own details, so it looks like a temporary fault - thank goodness!

Hi Christine. As you can see GR have made many changes on the site which are expected to improve the performance.

Unfortunately some computer operating systems (Windows XP,7) and Navigators (IE8, Firefox, Chrome) respond differently to what you put in.

You'd be best to post a mesage to support. I had a problem with uploading pictures and it was solved very quickly.

Hang in there. I've actually found many of the new features very good though there are teething problems (i.e people grinding their teeth) ;-)

Yes I see what you mean.

When I tried it the same happened on the birthplace but not on places of baptism or death.

In fact my input had been stored but wasn't visible until I selected someone else and then went back to the person I had added a birthplace for.

Using refresh didn't work as that took me back to the root person.

I did try putting what I wanted in, but as soon as I clicked "save", the box became blank again.

They are only suggestions that it offers. You can ignore them and put what you want in.

The UK ones are based on current administrative areas and not particularly relevant for nineteenth century locations.

It is some time since I did my full tree and have not had occasion to look at it much for a while.

I have just opened a second account in order to start a separate tree for my husband's family , and am disgusted that I can't input a place of birth without selecting it from a drop-down list. I had 2 people to input, one born in Ceylon (as it was at the time of birth) and the other in Guernsey and the only choices for these were places called Ceylon or Guernsey in USA or Canada! If you are going to limit choices to a dropdown, then the selections given should be exhaustive.

I can understand that it may not include all tiny villages, but surely a whole country should be?!

I apologise if this has been brought up before, but I was so cross I felt i had to mention it.
