Elsie Matilda Barratt died aged 18 in 1932.
In the occupation bit is says...
of 47 Evans Street Willenhall U.D.
Spinster of no occupation. Daughter of.....

Fathers address who was present at the death was 59 Wolverhampton Road and Elsies address where died says...376 Wolverhampton Road.

What does U.D. stand for do you think?

She died of (1) Generalised TB (2) TB of the spine. No PM.
Sadly her Mum died when she was 7 months old. Pulmonary TB and Collapse.

More than likely it stands for Urban District.

I've seen that and similar.

Google search shows this for 376 Wolverhampton Road (so probably at the Infirmary)

Workhouse Addresses
www.workhouses.org.uk/addresses

Instead, the place of birth was to be recorded as a euphemistic street address. .... Wolverhampton, 376 Wolverhampton Road, Heath Town, Wolverhampton ...

I am wondering if the U.D stands for something beginning with U District?

Thanks for replies.
I've had another look and the UD is lower case u and i thought the D was a capitol D but on second look i'm now thinking its a small h with squiggles...so u.h? Union House?
Would a union house maybe take in a sick child who was motherless?

As the UD was part of the address (47 Evans Street Willenhall U.D) it would be Urban District i don't think upper or lower case would make any difference,

Workhouses doubled as hospitals in those days

Got it Gerry and it worked so I am seriously impressed. Definitely Urband District. I decided to confirm UD status and found this which might be interesting for you.
