Unable to locate name of WWII service number

Help please. Alred Fear, was a driver and mechanic, served in The middle east. He also probably served with or as a military policeman in Germany at the end of the war.
I would love to locate his records, but need his service number to proceed.
I do no think he received a military pension, or was a member of the British Legion.
Alred never achieved a rank higher than private.
Any help would be appreciated

Pretty sure there are no WW2 records available on line at present.

Are you sure about this? I was under the impression that next of kin could apply for the records without this info - after all, most of us wouldn't know the service number. If you are not the next-of-kin I don't think you can obtain them anyway.
