England and Wales Census, 1871 is free at:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND

Actually, most of the censuses are, but only 1871/81 give the households - the rest just give each individual with no way of linking them into h/h's which makes them pretty useless.

Many, maybe most, Canadian public libraries have free in-library access to Ancestry (Library Edition).
My library does, as do 3 of the adjacent 4 boroughs.

It doesn't matter where in the world you live, we can all access the same things online.

Ah - scrub the Canadian census idea then.

Yes, she can use free cen, as well as family search. There are no national boundaries for accessibility

Sorry I didn't explain myself very well, it was to access the UK census I have referred to in my report.

Lesley - do you mean UK census that someone in Canada can look at for free?

I have been contacted by a relative in Canada who has been given some information I sent from my Family Tree Maker from another relative. In this report I refer to various Census but don't put full deltails on my tree, this involves many different relatives.

She has asked if there is anyway she can look at Census on line from where she lives - I don't think she is a member of any paid sites.

I know the 1881 Census is free can she use FreeCen from there. I intend to send her copies of BMD's I have purchased.

Thanks
