I have a possible marriage match for 1883 for a William Field & Harriet Lovein the right area. If I order the marriage certificate does this provide me with their birth dates? I have hit a generation with loads of possible matchs especially for William any tips?

Also I am struggling with marriages that I have been told occurred ie A Rose Boulton to a Cedric Battersby from mid 1925 and even similfying serach and extending dates cannot find any matchs. Any tips to find this match.

All the certificates I have ordered only show the age that they state, not their dates of birth.

Some of my ancestors lied about their ages when they married.

Do you know where the marriage for Rose and Cedric took place?

Thanks if Harriet told the truth I'll be able to confirm a birth and may be another generation back.

My wifes Aunts words "I only know of Rose Boulton who was Dad's sister she was married to a man with the last name of Battersby possibly Cedric only new him as uncle Bat and she had two children Cedric and Ann, and did not die at that date, she died much later, She divorced him and married again I think His name was Ernest LLewellyn she had no further children. " but the family were based in Birmingham area. Its like being a Detective!! :-)

The marriage cert may not show their ages - quite often it just says "full age" meaning they were 21 or over .

The Battersby/Boulton births were registered in Wiltshire.

They are on freebmd, so you can easily find them yourself

The only marriage for the names is the one posted above.

Perhaps the aunt was confused..........

Thanks for all the replys I am ordering the 1883 marriage certificate, I have their sons birth/death & marriage certificates so sure its the right couple.

The Rose Boulton was born Alverstoke 1903 family returned to Birmingham, I have tried the searches but couldnt confirm the marriages stated. Of the 5 brothers & sisters one is still alive in her 90s in a home in Erdington, Birmingham. So my best bet is that we visit her to see if she can confirm the Aunties summary
