Stuart, thank you for all that. Well, it really is a puzzle.

I spent all last night trying to fit Joseph into the family but can't even confirm, for sure, a birth for him.

He doesn't seem to be on the 1841 or 1851, either.

If he had been born in Devon I could understand it better as the Coles seem to have moved to London around 1850.

He seems to have fallen from space with so many other family members.

Thanks again, M

I know Alverstoke quite well, my husband used to work for the MOD and used to go to Gosport quite a lot, there and the Fort on Portsdown Hill.

One of our sons did his Admiralty board down there and we spent a nail biting day in Gosport and Alvestoke waiting for him to finish.

Still can't work Joseph into the family although I have notes I made about him years ago, being on the IOW when I thought he was my 3x gt grandad Coles brother, and he wasn't.

Maybe there was a family link after all.

Know you didn't but I enjoy doing it.
Alverstoke is just down the road from me and is the "posher" bit of Gosport - it's boundaries "stretch" !!

Death 1887 - Richard Doughty Alverstoke, Hampshire Sep Qtr 2B 331 aged 94. I wonder if Joseph and Emma moved first and Mum joined them or they all upped sticks after Richard's death and moved back to Joseph's native London??

Thanks Stuart, the Coles are my grandads family but I need to look up Joseph, doesn't spring immediately to mind.

I just need to get my head around why my gt gt grandmother on one side is living in that house in 1894, as per the electoral roll, on her own but my gt gt grandparents (cole) on the other side are living in the same house in 1871 with my gt gt gt grandparents.

Especially as she went missing somewhere around 1892 and there are no other records of her after her last child's birth in November 1891 and she was living in Clapham, not Battersea. They must have all known each other somewhere along the way but Not sure how.

Must recheck 1881 census and Cole Pamiloe marriage.

Thanks again, M

Stuart

Thank you,Reggie and Stuart, it is

19, Bollingbroke Rd, Battersea.

I know who was there all other years, it is just 1891.

Seems that gtgt grand parents on both my grandad and Nanas side lived, there, at different times, before either of them were born, trying to find out the connection.

Sorry I wasn't on later yesterday, kept getting the dreaded Error message.

You can only address search easily on Ancestry for 1881 and 1911 census. Otherwise you have to trawl through!
But you can address search on FMP, so I would change your heading to include 'FMP', so someone with a sub can look for you.

Hi, I thought there was a way to search for a particular address on the Ancestry records ?

I am looking at the 1891 census and want to find out who is living in a particular house.

I have done the usual County, Parish, district etc, but it is taking forever to wade through every district.

Is there an easier way by any chance ? M
