Does anyone have the Change of Name CD -1760 - 1901
Please. I have Andrew Benjamin Wilkes/Wilks born 1842. He
and his sons changed their names from Wilkes/Wilks to Ross about the 1870 -1880's.
Many thanks Irene

Hi Roy yes it is on S&N Genealogy Supplies.
Did not really want to purchase for one look
up so hoping someone else has it.

What you do need to consider is that this CD will have 'official' name changes

It will not take into account the 100's of people who change their name without doing it legally. And by law you can call yourself anything you wish as long as it is not for illegal purposes.

Yes thank you that is why I did not want to purchase
the CD as the name change may not been official.

I remember getting a number of free CD's when I purchased Roots Magic from S&N some years ago. All have proved useless to my research - until now.

Yes that name change CD is among them. I am sorry to say that the WilksWilkes to Ross is not listed though.

If anyone else has a specific query then PM me and I will look it up

PS: The CD I have is dated 2000. It is probable that the current one has some additions.

EDIT
The name changes include:
Changes by Royal Licence mostly taken from the London Gazette, Dublin Gazette and the Heralds College.
Name changes by private Acts of Parliament.
Name changes by deed poll and advertisement, where they have been published in The Times.
