Nervous about getting in touch

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Genes Reunited but I have found, I think my 2 half siblings I have never been in touch with. I am only a message away from confirming this. However i was nervous about getting in touch in case they don't want to hear from me or they didn't know of my existence. Has anyone been in a similar situation and what did you do? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

I have never been in your situation, but as these people are on GR, they are obviously interested in researching their family

Perhaps you could send an initial message simply asking what they are researching...................and if they are looking for specific info?

If they respond, base your next move on what they say................

Thanks Reggie, much appreciated. That sounds like a good way to approach an initial message.

Reggie has given sage advice,

And if they are any good at doing research then they will probably already know about you. It is amazing what turns up when you do a bit of indepth digging on your recent relatives!
