Very difficult to find as most won't be online

My grandfather was German and I have never been able to trace his family back from before they came to the U K. You have to know where they came from as bmds are kept in the towns rather than centrally ,plus lots of records were lost in WW2 bombings

I have had outside researchers looking for me too but no luck

a few records here:

Also some marriages and military records at Ancestry

but if you post the details you know about him we may be able to help

Hi,
I wondered whether, where to look online for German ancestry records, ie Bmds.

I am researching a friend's family tree, and her grandfather was apparently a German prisoner of war who stayed in England

So I am hoping to trace her ancestry back

Many thanks
Mark
