I have just paid to re-join this site and paid for info that is obvious on my tree. What I wanted to see was my Father's original birth records which would give me my grandfather's details. Also can't get onto family trees that I have previously had access to. The system is also extremely slow. :-P Have I misunderstood how this all works?

Welcome to the boards.

To see a copy of your father's birth certificate, you'd need to order a copy from GRO. You can only see his birth registration references on this and other sites such as https://www.freebmd.org.uk/
Use the references found to order from https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/login.asp at the normal cost of £9.25. If he was born 1935 or after, there is a pilot scheme offer on until 12 April where by a cert would be emailed as a pdf file at the reduced price of £8.

Events which occured in Scotland will be registered and accessed via https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
They have a different pricing policy.

Assuming you are using the same account as previously, any trees you still have access to can be found from the Family Tree page.
Under your name at the top of the tree page is the heading View other trees. Click on that.
The Tree Dashboard opens in the middle of the screen. It has 2 tabs - 'My Trees' and 'Trees shared with me'. Click on the Trees shared with me & you should see all the owner's names.
If they aren't listed, they may have removed access or deleted their accounts.

Normally the speed on this site is reasonable. Sometimes it has problems. Occasionally there's a problem with the server but more often than not its the users connection or browser.
