i have just returned to GR after a few years away and in the past i printed off my tree and put it on the wall so at a glance i could see where i wanted to go next.
when i try now it says " Whoa! We just talked to your printer and it doesn't think it can print a tree as big as yours! " i know that is a pile of crap as i've done it before on a small cheap printer and i now have a good printer that can take a whole ream of paper.
is there a way around this ?

Its been like that since at least the change in the site.

Even GR in their FAQs suggest downloading a gedcom and having it printed out commercially.

The only alternative is to print off individual sections and piece it together.

To be honest - if your tree has more than c80 people, would you have space at home to patch goodness knows how many sheets of A4 together and hang on a wall? Back in the early days, I needed the whole of the lounge floor for 40 sheets of paper. You can blame all those Victorian families who kept having children

just a con to make money then if someone else can do it.
i only have 375 at the moment so about 10 - 12 sheets.

has anyone tried to import a gedcom to their own printer ?

I shouldn't think a printer could convert a gedcom into a tree.

If you're happy with the format, then fine. However it won't be easy to view when pinned to the wall.

Have a look around the internet for free or cheap family history/tree software to load on to your computer. You can often pick up them up cheaply on ebay. That way you'll have a copy of your tree to control as you wish, and to print what and how you want.
