Not sure if it's still the case, but when you first register, you used to be given a certain amount of credits to use.

Just like England & Wales, you can search the index for free, but need to purchase the certificate to view the details

The only Jemima Burgh showing in births on SP was born 1877, so not her.

The image might give clues, with parents' names, or possible mistranscription.

Here you are on the free search but you need units to view the info

Surname Forename Spouse Surname Spouse Forename Year Ref Entry Number RD Name Image View
SEAGARS WILLIAM. BURGH JEMIMA 1866 644/4 22. 22 Calton (Glasgow)
Buy credits

ArgyllGran Report 27 Apr 2017 16:54

This will be the marriage you mean (per Scotlands People):

SEAGARS WILLIAM
BURGH JEMIMA
1866
644/4 22
22
Calton (Glasgow)

If you buy credits on S, you can view and print the image of the original certificate. It will give you their parents' names and occupations.

Ahhh. Well you need Scotlands People site which is the only one that holds Scottish Bmds

It's not a subs site but free to search but you need to purchase units to look at the record

For that time you can look and download the actual record at a very reasonable unit cost

Sounds like you have basic membership which is cheap compared to other subs sites that holds bmds census etc
It doesn't give you free access to the records as explained in the details of the subs

You can use FreeBMD which is a free site for bmds for sept qtr 1839 to c 1960's

Check which level of subscription you have. You can compare them here
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/payments/subscription?isgift=false

What exactly were you looking for? It possible we can advise you the best way to search on GR, or failing that suggest alternative free sites. Members with subs to other sites are always willing to look there.

Its worth remembering that GR tends to specialise in English & Welsh records. There are a few records sets for Scotland & Ireland but not really that much for 'overseas'.

Most of us have a basic membership on here and take out a sub to either Ancestry or FindMyPast.

If you need help feel free to post on here and other members will use their subs to help.

i've paid to be on here GR and the search is useless can't find what i'm looking for, i can find all i want on other sites but can't see it unless i pay again. Why can't GR find information that the other sites can ? i don't really want to pay again.
whats the best way to search ?
