Hi, I hope your all keeping safe and well, I need some advice on searching GRO for certificates, [ which I have done in the past with success, I am trying to find parentage of Male Thomas Weller [Grandson] b 1840 Winchelsea, Sussex.
I have searched Free BMD births with no result, I've have searched GRO with relevant information again no success, I believe his mother to be Emma Booth. Any ideas would be appreciated

The 1841 census does not give relationships, so there's no certainty that he was James's grandson.

Nor do you know that he was born in Winchelsea. The census only says he was born in Sussex.

Winchelsea was in Rye reg district at that time, but there is no record of a Thomas Well born there in any year around 1840-ish, on either FreeBMD or GRO.

Have you found in him in any later census, which would probably give a more accurate POB and YOB?

You were given the birth info..........at 14.58

BUT.......until 1875, there were no penalties for not registering births, and many births went unrecorded, so please make a note of that fact for future reference.

That's a later birth than the one AG posted from the GRO
